I think parents shouldn't try to shelter their kids so much. They are going to have to deal with real life situations. They should just let their children figure it out on their own or help them through it. No matter what they do, they could never make the problems go away, so why hide it.

Since the parents are going to tell thier children not take drugs, they might do it just because thier parents told them not to. Not all children listen to thier parents, so having someone else do it might be more successful.
