I believe that parents should become involved in and be aware of what their children are reading and watching. If a parent becomes extremely against something that their children is reading or watching than they should definately thoroughly examine the book or movie they would like banned from their children's reach. Personally I believe that as long as the parents are aware, they shouldn't ban their children from being exposed to harsh or controversal issues because it is indeed real and their children within time will engage an encounter with these issues sometime in their life. School is supposed to be a place where children learn right? Well just because some issues may be a little outside the box, conversating about explicit material would be a learning experience for all high school students.

I believe that parents indeed do have the right to monitor and be aware of what their children are being exposed to in school. However, in a high school setting some of these topics disucssed such as rape, homosexuality, sex, and drugs are issues that are real and occur everyday all over the world. Once a child reaches a certain age and enters high school topics such as those should be discussed by all means. High school students should have the opportunity to discuss these matters and learn from the disscussions.
